Type One
The Reformer
Basic Desire:
To be good, virtuous,
in balance, and to
have integrity
Basic Fear:
Being bad, corrupt,
evil, or defective
In my own words:
Ones seem to be born
with a secret rulebook
about the way the world
should work… they work to
make sure everybody
(especially themselves) are
following the rules.
Type Two
The Helper
Basic Desire:
To feel loved and
connected to others
Basic Fear:
Being unworthy of being loved
In my own words:
Two just want to be loved and
we need to be needed… so much
so that we sometimes lose sight
of boundaries and cross them
without realizing it.
Type Three
The Achiever
Basic Desire:
To feel worthwhile, accepted,
and desirable
Basic Fear:
Being worthless or without value
In my own words:
Threes are very chameleon-like
and can take on different personas
to stand out in a crowd…
sometimes they lose sight of
their inherent worth without
their accomplishments
Type Four
The Individualist
Basic Desire:
To be find themselves and
their significance, to
create an identity out of
their inner experience
Basic Fear:
Being without a unique
identity or personal
significance
In my own words:
Fours are often a
misunderstood type. They
are the type most
connected to their
feelings… this is part of
why they have an inherent
sense of being incomplete
or like something is missing.
Type Five
The Investigator
Basic Desire:
To be capable and competent
Basic Fear:
Being useless, incapable,
or incompetent (overwhelmed)
In my own words:
Fives are the type that need
connections and relationships
the least… they like to live in
a world of ideas inside their
heads and are selective in
who they connect with.
Type Six
The Loyalist
Basic Desire:
To find security and support
Basic Fear:
Being without support or
guidance; unable to
survive on their own
In my own words:
Sixes thrive on stability
and security, and have
back up plans to their
back up plans… which also
means they’re always aware of any mistake or error, no matter how small it is. And they don’t
hesitate to point it out.
Type Seven
The Enthusiast
Basic Desire:
To be happy, satisfied;
to find fulfillment
Basic Fear:
Being deprived or trapped
In my own words:
Sevens love freedom and
possibility. They are a lot
of fun to be around…
until they’re not.
They often have difficulty
limiting their options and
settling into a decision.
Type Eight
The Challenger
Basic Desire:
To protect themselves, to
determine their own course in life
Basic Fear:
Being harmed or controlled
by others, of being violated
In my own words:
Eights are natural born leaders
who like to be in charge…
vulnerability is like their kryptonite
and they will do almost anything
to insulate themselves from it.
Type Nine
The Peacemaker
Basic Desire:
To maintain their inner stability
and peace of mind
Basic Fear:
Being disconnected or
fragmented; of loss and separation
In my own words:
Nines are easy-going and naturally laid-back… and they value harmony so much they often sacrifice their own needs to keep the peace.
